Andrea Wagner was born in Germany, raised in Canada and has lived in Amsterdam for nearly two decades. She studied jewelry making at Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam. Wagner was an Artist-In-Residence at the European Ceramic Work Centre in Den Bosch, The Netherlands and has lectured and taught seminars on jewelry making in Europe and the U.S.

Attai Chen was born and raised in Israel. He received his BFA from The Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem followed by an MFA from Munich’s Academy of Fine Arts, studying under Prof. Otto Künzli. In addition to the Herbert Hofmann and Andrea M. Bronfman prizes, Chen won the Oberbayerischer Förderpreis für Angewandte Kunst prize, Munich in 2012.

Some of the designers work i like at new designers which i sadly had to miss! but looks like there was some very professional work.

I found these 1940’s pieces made by Anni Albers a textile artist. she wanted to create anti luxury jewellery so she uses materials such as brass washers, bobby pins and ribbon.

this collection of necklaces by swarm are made of brass and can be used as stencils. it would be interesting to explore what mediums you could stencil with i.e spray paint, pen, paint etc and linking the illustration with the wearable object this is something i started to explore in my final project at university.

I am inspired by maria aparicio’s style of drawing onto photo’s i design in a similar way as it helps me to find new direction and scale in my work.

Today I have been looking at red and black jewellery as red is a very striking and symbolic colour in jewellery.
